Meatballs Milanese


- For the meatballs:
- 1.4 kg minced beef
- 200 grams fresh white breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 2 tsp salt
- For the sauce:
- 300 grams large onions, finely chopped
- 300 ml oil
- 900 grams tin chopped tomatoes
- 2 large red peppers, sliced
- 50 grams plain flour
- 750 ml beef stock
- 5 tbsp tomato puree
- 75 grams Garlic Puree
- Sea Salt to taste
- Black Peppercorns , freshly ground - To taste


Pre-heat the oven to 200ºC, 400ºF, Gas Mark 6.

Prepare the meatballs by mixing the ingredients together.

Shape into approximately 60 small balls.

Cook on a baking sheet in the oven for 20 minutes.

To prepare the sauce, soften the onion in the oil, add the remaining ingredients and bring to the boil, stirring.

Add the meatballs and simmer for 10 minutes.


For a more spicy option add 1-2 tsp Schwartz for Chef Chilli Powder to the meatballs. Serve with rice or pasta.
