Moussaka - School Meal

- 1.2 kg lean beef mince
- 3 large onions, chopped
- 300 grams mushrooms, sliced
- 1 sachet
- 1.2 kg tin chopped tomatoes
- 300 ml water
- 2 kg potatoes, sliced and blanched
- 1 lt prepared white sauce


Brown the beef mince and onions together in a large pan. Drain off any excess liquid.

Add the mushrooms and cook for 4-5minutes.

Stir in the Mediterranean Herb Recipe Mix, tomatoes and water.

Bring to the boil stirring, then cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Allow to cool, and then place ½ the mixture into an ovenproof dish.

Place the sliced potatoes on top of the mixture, then place the remainder of the mixture on the sliced potatoes.

Place the remaining sliced potatoes on top and cover with the white sauce.

Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and cooked through.

Each portion serves 10 senior school children / adults and serves 20 junior school children.
