Add spices to breakfast options

Dont leave spices out of porridge

One of the best ways for professional caterers to bring something wholly original and distinctive to their restaurant's menu is to experiment with new flavour pairings.

Our resident expert Chef Steve says that one of the best ways to do this is by trying different combinations of culinary spices.

He adds that one of his favourite things about these ingredients is their versatility - they can bring something to almost any dish.

The really bold caterer would do well to consider adding them to a breakfast option.

Cookery blog The Kitchn shared a recipe for a spiced porridge - and this could be perfect with the colder winter season setting in.

The likes of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and vanilla were among the ingredients.

However, there is no reason you cannot bring a twist to this dish by coming up with new taste sensations of your own - simply think about what new ingredients would complement the others.
