Prepare beef pie with culinary herbs

Pies can be mixed up with new combinations of culinary herbs

New combinations of culinary herbs can be used to give the most familiar recipes a distinctive and unusual twist.

McCormick's resident expert Chef Steve says this is one of his favourite things about the ingredients, as it indicates how versatile they are.

As a result of this, it could be worth trying with old favourites that can offer diners a distinctive take on meals they will think they are already used to.

For instance, writing in the Guardian, chef and patron of Ottolenghi and Nopi in London Yotam Ottolenghi recommended using cloves, garlic and parsley in a beef pie.

He noted that it can be served hot or at room temperature, so it could be possible to set several aside in order to offer it as a quick serve option.

Preparation involved frying onions in garlic and olive oil, before sauteeing tomato paste, allspice, cinnamon, a teaspoon-and-a-half of salt and pepper to cook the beef in.
