Jamie Oliver critical of school meal plan

Jamie Oliver critical of school meal plan

There is nothing more important than making sure kids get healthy meals.

With the right culinary herbs and spices, food that children would normally turn their noses up at can become a tempting treat.

If you want your young ones eating sweet potatoes and mushrooms, all you have to do is try introducing some innovative and highly presentable food combinations, which is what Jamie Oliver has been trying to do during his campaign to boost the quality of school dinners in the UK.

However, the celebrity chef has raised concerns that the current government is not doing enough to improve childhood nutrition.

In particular, he is concerned that ministers' decision to commission another report on school food quality when the shortcomings are already well documented is of little use.

"Now is not the time for more costly reports. Now is the time for action," Mr Oliver said.

Recently, organisers of a cookery scheme run by Cleethorpes Childcare was celebrating after publishing a cookbook using recipes chosen by the children involved in the programme.
