Global warming could limit food choices

Global warming could dramatically limit the food choices available to people in the UK, according to new research from the University of Manchester.

The report, from the Sustainable Consumption Institute, shows that many ingredients that people take for granted now could become too expensive to produce if global temperature rises reach four degrees Celsius.

According to food scientists at the institute, global warming would ensure that most people became vegetarians as the price of meat would become prohibitively expensive.

The university's Dr Alice Bows, who lead the two-year study, said: "Without taking necessary measures to cut emissions, we will have seriously misled those adapting to climate change."

However, going veggie can be hugely beneficial for the environment and with the right culinary spices and herbs can be just as tasty.

Replacing the meat in burgers with chickpeas, mushrooms and haloumi makes this BBQ staple a brilliant veggie option.
