Quality of service very important to diners

Poor service is a big bugbear for diners

Caterers who wish to ensure their clientele are happy with every aspect of their visit and become regular diners at their outlet may wish to ensure they maintain high standards of customer service.

The 2012 Square Meal Complaints Survey found poor service is one of the biggest gripes held by residents of London, Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine reports.

Around 45 per cent of respondents asserted they are often displeased by this consideration while eating out.

It was noted that this is a significantly higher figure than received by the second-biggest issue in the survey - which was poor ambience and decor cited by 19.5 per cent of respondents.

Disappointing food was included in the poor service category, which could mean chefs will have to work hard to ensure they are serving the best examples of their inspirational recipes.

Latin American food could be an option worth considering, as Square Meal predicts this will become more popular with diners in 2012.
