Kofte dishes can be spiced up with cumin

Culinary spices are a key ingredient for kofte

Culinary spices are a key ingredient for chefs to consider if they wish to introduce dishes such as kofte to their menus.

Celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall shared the ingredients for his version of the dish in an article for the Guardian.

Mincing the beef in the kitchen was recommended, rather than purchasing the meat pre-packaged in this form.

Preparation of the African spice mix involved toasting coriander seeds, cumin and fennel until fragrant and rubbing into the meat by hand.

"Fry the kofte until they're cooked through and the seed coating is crisp and golden," Fearnley-Whittingstall advised.

McCormick's resident expert Chef Steve says one of the benefits of using spices is that they can bring out the natural flavours of other ingredients, in addition to mixing together to create unique combinations.

Do you have any flavour pairings that have been successfully experimented with to bring a new or personalised twist on an old favourite recipe?
