Spicy cookies could make the perfect Christmas gift

Spicy cookies could make the perfect Christmas gift

With so much food to prepare for Christmas, there often isn't enough time to make it to give as gifts too.

However, cookies are quick and easy to make yet look beautiful when presented in clear bags tied with pretty ribbon - plus they can be customised for individual recipients with culinary spices.

Writing for Time magazine, The Naptime Chef (aka Kelsey Banfield) said she always uses traditional shortbread as a standby, but alters the recipe to make it feel more festive.

This year, she suggested trying a blend of ginger, cardamom and cinnamon, which should be suitable for all kinds of palates.

Use a teaspoon of ground ginger, two teaspoons of ground cardamom and two teaspoons of ground cinnamon when you add the flour as usual.

When the cookies are allowed to bake for around 14 minutes, it should really release the flavour of the spices.

Why not try coming up with your own blends by using different taste pairings? They will definitely make for a thoughtful Christmas gift without leaving you pushed for time.
