Cinnamon is perfect for puddings

Cinnamon is useful in desserts as well as curries

Culinary spices are widely celebrated for their ability to bring something new to almost any dish.

Here at Schwartz for Chef, our resident expert Chef Steve says this kind of versatility is one of his favourite things about the ingredients.

While spices may be more commonly associated with Asian curry recipes, they can also work very well in dessert options.

For instance, in an article for the Daily Telegraph, owner and head chef of the Dock Kitchen in Notting Hill Stevie Parle recommended using cinnamon to make your own ice cream.

This could go down really well with diners, as they will be able to tell the difference between something made on site and something purchased in bulk and could really help to set your restaurant apart from the crowd.

Mr Parle seems to be a fan of cinnamon in particular, as he also suggested using it in a coconut and potato curry.
