Spices make a great summer dish

Spices are great for barbecue dishes

When looking for ideas for new inspirational recipes to serve diners, chefs could take the weather into consideration.

It may sound silly, but it's obvious that people are going to be in the mood for different kinds of dishes on cold or hot days.

With summer just around the corner, now could be a good time to start thinking of recipes that may turn out to be popular on hot days - especially if your restaurant has an outdoor dining area.

In an article for the Guardian, chef patron at Murano restaurant and consultant at the Whitechapel Gallery and Dining Room in London Angela Hartnett suggested preparing sweet and sour pork ribs with lime and chilli.

She claimed this is great for sunny days, as it has associations with barbecues, but can also be cooked in an oven.

Here at Schwartz for Chef, we think our range of culinary spices are likely to be an essential for caterers considering this kind of meal, especially given that Ms Hartnett recommended the use of cumin and chillies.
