Thyme can add to the perfect autumn dish

Thyme is great in salads

When coming up with new additions to the restaurant's menu for the autumn season, professional caterers would do well to think about what kind of food is popular at this time of year.

Celebrity chef and cookbook author Rose Prince recommended a recipe for roast roots with toasted cobnuts.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, she explained that serving this with Greek yoghurt could make for the perfect autumn dish.

Thyme was included in her ingredients - but caterers can be a bit more adventurous and come up with something more radical.

In the working kitchen, this kind of dish would translate best in to a starter or light bite offering - so why not think about how you can spice it up with a dressing?

There would be a great deal of scope to come up with new flavour pairings here - and this could even lead to the creation of a new signature dish!
