Add herbs to a Bayonne ham tart

Herbs taste great on French dishes

A Bayonne ham tart is one dish that can really benefit from the inclusion of culinary herbs.

It can also be a lot of fun for the professional caterer to prepare - and it could make a refreshing change from the usual offerings as it is a traditional dish from the south of France.

Our resident expert Chef Steve says one of his key professional inspirations is researching the culinary heritage of other cultures - so this could also prompt some interesting ideas that can be adapted for other recipes.

Professional chef Pierre Koffmann - winner of the coveted three Michelin star rating for his London restaurant La Tante Claire - suggested using garlic and parsley in the tart.

However, in order to really bring your own twist to the meal, why not try coming up with new flavour pairings of your own invention? This can be done by experimenting with different combinations of herbs and spices.
