Cinnamon adds spice to autumn cocktail

Cinnamon can be used to make tasty cocktails

Now that autumn has arrived, individuals may be looking to swap their summer salads and glasses of chilled wine for a hearty stew flavoured with culinary herbs.

However, spices and exotic ingredients can also be added to drinks when the weather grows colder, as Firefly Distillery has claimed.

The enterprise explained how to make Igniter Martini, which could be the perfect tipple at a Bonfire Night party or Halloween gathering.

Individuals should use a shaker to combine two parts Firefly sweet tea-flavoured Bourbon with half a part of cinnamon schnapps.

A splash of cherry juice is then added, before the liquid is poured into a chilled martini glass.

It is garnished with a cherry and a dusting of cinnamon.

Firefly co-founder Scott Newitt said the drink is appealing to those "who want spicier, more exotic cocktails and like to experiment with mixing".

It is not only alcoholic beverages that can be flavoured with cinnamon, as food industry analyst and creator of Phil Lempert said the ingredient can be added to coffee along with apple juice, cloves and allspice to create a delicious drink.
