Venison pies are great winter warmers

Pumpkins arent just for Halloween

When coming up with a new range of dishes for your restaurant's menu, it might be a good idea for caterers to give some thought to the kind of food that their diners are likely to be in the mood for.

With the warm summer behind us and the nights drawing in, comfort food dishes are likely to be a big hit.

Alexia Robinson from Love British Food said that venison pie is a great idea - particularly as venison is in season from September to February.

She also suggested pumpkin pie as another possible option that is definitely worth some consideration.

Jamie Oliver's take on this particular meal was recommended in particular.

This added butternut squash to the mix, as well as culinary spices like cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.

"British pumpkins are currently in season so start experimenting today," Ms Robinson commented, suggesting that coming up with new ingredients of your own could be a good approach.
