Mush beans with garlic for a tasty alternative to hummus

Add herbs to beans

While side servings such as hummus are increasingly popular with the nation's diners, the adventurous caterer can always come up with some tasty and exciting alternative of their own.

This is a very positive and creative course of action, as it can really help to set your restaurant apart from the crowd.

Celebrity chef Bill Granger suggested mushing up beans in a mixture of garlic, anchovies and lemon zest.

In an article for the Independent, he stated that if this is mixed well, but left a little chunky, it can make a great alternative to hummus.

Granger added that this can be served with toast - and the light bite goes down very well with a glass of red wine, which could be worth recommending to the diner.

Why not try coming up with a new dip or spread of your own invention? Try thinking of what culinary herbs complement base ingredients.
