Mozzarella can be customised with herbs

Celebrity chef Nigel Slater has recommended adding Mediterranean herbs such as basil to a mozzarella salad with tomato crumbs.

In an article for the Guardian, he explained that tangy tomatoes set off a luscious melted cheese, adding that it has an unexpectedly crunchy finish.

"This has all the elements that make pizza such a success," Slater remarked, adding that it comes "without the weight of a bread dough base".
