Herbs and spices add excitement to devilled cod fillets

Spices are great with seafood

Devilled cod fillets can be served on a bed of puy lentils, according to celebrity chef Sophie Ruggles.

She shared her recipe for the dish in an article for the Independent - and a wide range of culinary herbs and spices were included.

Paprika and curry powder formed a part of the marinade for the meal - and these had to be mixed together with olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper.

Garlic, parsley and coriander were recommended for the preparation of the meat itself - and caterers can always try to make a new version of this dish.

Simply coming up with new combinations of herbs and spices can be enough to come up with a completely different flavour.

Our resident expert Chef Steve says that the possibilities that these ingredients present a great deal of scope for this kind of experimentation - so don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild.
