Give chicken soup a Peruvian twist with ginger

Try adding ginger to chicken soup

Chicken soup is a perennially popular starter dish among diners up and down the country.

However, it can be difficult for professional caterers to come up with a novel and distinctive way of serving it that will help to truly set their restaurant's menu offerings apart from the crowd.

Our resident expert Chef Steve says that researching the culinary traditions of other cultures is one of his key professional inspirations.

Celebrity chef Diana Henry recommended adding culinary spices like chillies, ginger and coriander to a chicken soup in order to give it a Peruvian twist.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, she described the meal as being: "A wholesome bowl of chicken, potatoes and hard-boiled eggs in a herby, chilli-flecked broth."

This is merely one way in which to add a twist to the classic - so don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild and see what new taste sensations you can come up with.
