Chilli relish is a great accompaniment to spicy fritters

Serve fritters with chilli relish

One of the many ways in which professional caterers can attempt to make their restaurant's menu offerings really stand apart from the crowd is to think about how they combine flavours in a dish.

Preparing tapas-style options can be a great way to do this for many reasons - not least of which is the fact that diners get some choice in how they mix things up.

Celebrity chef Mark Hix suggested serving onion fritters with an apple and green chilli relish.

In an article for the Independent, he explained that the fritters themselves can be very spicy - using cumin, mustard and turmeric among his own ingredients for the recipe.

Spices also featured very heavily in his relish preparation - specifically chillies and ginger.

However, caterers who are in a rush in the kitchen could have a look at our Bick's range of relishes and salsas if they would prefer to focus their time on other tasks.
