Prepare a muesli breakfast with cinnamon

Cinnamon can make tasty muesli with a difference

Lovers of creative cuisine could prepare a breakfast with a difference by using cinnamon and vanilla extract in a muesli recipe.

This is the advice of Bill Granger, who said he likes to "soak oats for bircher muesli overnight in a little apple juice", describing the dish in the Independent.

Sugar is dissolved in a pan of orange juice over a low heat, after which a cinnamon stick is added to the syrup and brought to the boil.

Cranberries are introduced to this mixture until they soften slightly, before they are set aside in a bowl and the remaining liquid is poured over them.

This is then stirred with oats, honey, milk, vanilla, yoghurt and apple slices.

Mr Granger's final serving suggestion was to sprinkle with almonds and add milk if a thinner consistency is preferred.

Cinnamon appears to be a good choice for a diverse range of dishes, as the celebrity chef recently advised using it to prepare a Vietnamese pho in an article for the same newspaper.
