Pomegranates are good for the heart and circulation

Pomegranates are good for the circulatory system

Those who are considering the health benefits of the ingredients of certain inspirational recipes may be interested to learn pomegranates can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and heart problems.

President of Wellness International Dorian Dugmore explained this is because the inner lining of the arteries are improved through consumption of the fruit.

Nitric oxide is also produced in the body, which smoothens the inside of the circulatory system and helps the flow of blood.

Sugars are also able to be used more effectively as the production of insulin is stimulated.

"It can reduce the effect of inflammatory markers in your body and reduce things like arthritis to a degree, it can even help to alleviate sexual dysfunction," Mr Dugmore commented.

In an interview with NPR earlier this year, London chef and cookbook author Yotam Ottolenghi suggested studding tahini with pomegranate seeds and seasoning with black pepper, garlic and parsley in order to prepare a burnt eggplant dish.
