Time to start thinking about Jubilee recipes

What will you cook for the Jubilee

With the Queen's Jubilee just around the corner, now could be the perfect time for caterers to consider what specials they can offer for the occasion.

Given the extended bank holiday many Brits are looking forward to, there is no doubt restaurants will be packed out, so it could be advisable to create something particularly distinctive to set your meals apart from the crowd.

However, it will pay not to deviate too far from traditional British cuisine, as a spirit of patriotism will probably characterise the proceedings.

In an article for the Guardian, Angela Hartnett recommended preparing barbecue chicken with watercress mayonnaise for the royal occasion.

She advised using culinary herbs such as rosemary and thyme to make the dish, but chefs can  bring their own twist to it with flavour pairings of their own.

Here at Schwartz for Chef, we really advocate this kind of experimentation - indeed, our resident expert Chef Steve says the scope herbs and spice allow for this is one of his favourite things about the ingredients.
