Thyme helps with a rack of lamb

Mustard and thyme can make a roast with a difference

When preparing a rack of lamb, it may be advisable to give the recipe an edge by adding some culinary herbs.

Sunday roasts are a staple dish and are ever-popular with diners, but it is easy to fall into a routine when preparing them.

So why not mix things up a little bit and spend some time experimenting with new flavour pairings?

This could be a success and really make the menu offerings stand out, ensuring guests will come back for more.

In an article for the Guardian, celebrity chef Nigel Slater recommended adding dijon mustard and thyme to a recipe for a roast rack of lamb.

He also suggested making lemon potatoes as a side serving, which is worth noting - experimentation need not stop with the meat.

"The potatoes are seriously lemony - a tart surprise that works nicely with the fat of the lamb," he explained, preparing them as normal, but adding lemon thyme in the pan.
