Include customers in preparation for a unique experience

Is it a good idea to bring diners into the kitchen

Caterers can look beyond their menu of inspirational recipes in order to give their diners a unique experience.

Including them in preparation can give people a sense of participation and encourage more interest in specific meals.

They may even be able to suggest ideas that have not necessarily been come across before - McCormick's resident expert Chef Steve says interacting with other people is one of his key professional inspirations.

It could also be a good idea to provide themed evenings, which might include anything from tastings to barbecue masterclasses, which could also be a means of testing how an experimental dish will be received.

This could be the perfect means of promoting food for the Love British Food 2012 event, which runs from July 27th to August 12th, having been rearranged to coincide with the Olympic Games and highlight the best of national cuisine.

Do you have any tips on how to engage diners in a more interactive manner?
