Get some herbs together for St Davids Day

Why not mark St Davids Day with a special offering

With all the hustle and bustle of an intense daily routine, many chefs may not have the luxury to plan that far ahead to ensure they can offer their diners some seasonal specials.

If this is the case, there are plenty of last-minute solutions they could get together with the ingredients they already have in the kitchen.

For instance, with St David's Day falling today (March 1st), caterers could turn to culinary herbs to create an authentic Welsh dish for the occasion.

McCormick's resident expert Chef Steve says one of his favourite things about the ingredients is their ability to unlock the flavours of other ingredients, which could be ideal for national dishes involving leeks.

Culinary director at the Celtic Manor resort in Wales Peter Fuchs suggested a Welsh goat's cheese souffle in an article for the Guardian.

The meal is twice-baked and can be reheated, so waste-conscious caterers can rest assured they will not have to waste anything.
