Chilli and ginger make a great noodle flavouring

Chillies are a great addition to noodle dishes

Culinary spices are a great addition to a wide range of meals, not least of which are noodle dishes.

McCormick's resident expert Chef Steve says one of his favourite things about the ingredients is their versatility and new combinations can make such a difference that simple experimenting with new flavour pairings can produce a whole new meal altogether.

In an article for the Independent, Australian celebrity chef Bill Granger suggested the use of ginger and chilli in pork yaki soba.

It originates from a Chinese recipe, but the Japanese adapted it and gave it a unique twist that ties it more closely to the latter nation.

Preparation involved mixing soy, mirin, sesame oil, sugar and pepper in a bowl with some water, before frying with ginger and pork.
