Chicken recipes given a fresh twist by spices

Those looking for a warming dish on a cold day could use culinary spices to add flavour to roasted poultry.

Canada.com noted chicken seasoning can add an Indian twist to the traditional dish, using spices such as grated ginger, ground turmeric and red pepper flakes to create a marinade that brings out the taste of the meat.

One chicken recipe involves sauteing onion, garlic and ginger, adding carrots and rice shortly before cumin, garam masala, and coriander, then finishing off by adding pre-cooked lentils to the mix.

The dish should be served with the marinated chicken in the centre of the plate with the pilau rice around it, the website suggested.

Writing for Yumsugar, Lauren Hendrickson recently said home chefs can add spices and herbs to leftover chicken to create a stuffed pepper dish that is ideal for making use of what can otherwise be unappealing meat.
