Spices can help to make a Turkish light bite

Pizza like lahmacun can be topped with spices

Culinary spices come with a wide range of benefits to caterers, not least the ability to bring out the natural flavour of other ingredients.

However, here at Schwartz for Chef, we really advocate culinary innovation, so why not come up with something ambitious to really impress your diners?

Our resident expert Chef Steve says researching the culinary traditions is one of his key professional inspirations and there is no doubt it can bring an exciting array of ideas to the table.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, owner of London's Dock Kitchen restaurant Stevie Parle recommended a classic lamb lahmacun recipe, which traces its origins to Turkey and could make a perfect light bite.

Preparation involved the use of chillies, coriander, cumin and parsley - but you can bring your own twist to this meal by coming up with exciting new flavour pairings of your own.
