US chef leads seminar on creative cooking with herbs

Chef Paul Ingenito has stirred up a passion for creative cuisine with his cooking with herbs seminar.

The chef of the Perryville Inn in New Jersey taught a crowd at a local herbs nursery how best use rosemary, oregano, basil and more, according to NJ.com.

Students were treated to an array of creative dishes, such as mozzarella with sliced tomatoes and almond pesto, lavender ice cream, spice rubbed pork tenderloin with coriander and parsley, as well as mint chocolate chip ice cream.

His seminar echoes comments made by Mississippi State University's Dr Lelia Kelly, who encouraged people to experiment with herbs.

"The best advice I can give about cooking with herbs is to experiment," Dr Kelly commented.

"Herbs have so many functions. They release wonderful aromas, add beauty to the landscape, are great additions to any recipe and have health benefits."
