Cardamom and coriander see steady demand

Cardamom and coriander hold steady as other spices see prices squeezed

Cardamom and coriander have bucked the downward trend among culinary spices in the Indian market, with demand subdued for other spices on offer.

However, Commodity Online expects traders to stock up on other spices to capitalise on lower prices ahead of an almost inevitable revival in demand.

Market prices of cardamom remained firm, with exporters snapping up vast quantities amid demand for the upcoming Ramadan festival in august.

The price is expected to continue to grow in the coming weeks, ranging from 650 rupees (£8.8) to 825 rupees per kilogram.

Meanwhile, coriander prices also remained strong as demand in the markets improved; however, an increased supply is expected in the near future.

The price of coriander on the market is expected to peak at 4,650 rupees per 100 kilograms in the coming week.

India recently reported that exports of turmeric fell three percent to 49,250 tonnes during March and April.
