Fennel is a great addition to a quinoa salad

Orange and fennel complement each other very well

When preparing new recipes to really bring something new to your restaurants menu, why not try adding new flavour pairings to a recipe?

This can really mix things up a bit, as well as helping to ensure your offerings stand apart from the crowd and keep diners coming back for more.

Culinary herbs and spices are particularly well suited to this approach - and indeed, our resident expert Chef Steve says the scope for experimentation is one of his favourite things about these ingredients.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, food stylist Xenia von Oswald recommended adding fennel seeds to a quinoa salad.

She also recommended the use of garlic and parsley in the recipe, along with a zingy orange dressing.

Here at Schwartz for Chef, we really advocate culinary innovation, so why not try bringing your own unique twist to these ingredients by coming up with exciting new combinations of herbs and spices that may not have been attempted before?
