Jamie Oliver and Sainburys part ways

Jamie Oliver ends partnership with Sainsburys after 11 years

Globe-trotting celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has announced he will cut ties with British supermarket giant Sainsbury's after 11 years of working together on creative cuisine.

The health food campaigner had appeared in hundreds of adverts over the lifetime of his association with the retailer, which reportedly netted him £1 million each year.

Saying it is a "good time to move on" Mr Oliver explained: "It's been a fantastic 11 years and together we have achieved some great things... The way [Sainbury's] take on challenges - like their commitment to sourcing higher welfare products, such as chicken and eggs - is something to be proud of."

The partnership brought a number of low-budget healthy recipes to the public, including the top chef's spicy beef stir-fry, which is seasoned with ginger, basil, garlic and teriyaki sauce.

According to the Independent, the partnerships 2005 advert which saw Oliver grating nutmeg over a spaghetti dish saw the spice's sale soar by 400 per cent.
