Spice up healthy meals this January

At this time of year, everyone is looking to shed a few pounds after the festive indulgences, but that does not mean that meals need to become boring.

Kelly Boyer, founder of Paleta, told Glamour magazine that it is easy to cook up a tasty treat that is full of all the required nutrients and less than 500 calories.

One of the dishes she suggested to health-conscious eaters was Thai tofu satay with sesame ginger snap pea salad.

Not only is a serving of this meal only 399 calories, it delivers on taste too thanks to the delicious satay marinade.

It features garlic, cayenne pepper, ginger, turmeric, coriander, cumin and soy sauce.

This is a great example of how flavour can be added to any dish and new twists can be combined with classics by experimenting with innovative flavour pairings.

Indeed, our resident expert Chef Steve says that herbs and spices are among his very favourite ingredients - precisely because they offer a great deal of variety.
