Chefs challenged for inspirational recipes with turkey

Do you have an inspiring turkey recipe

Caterers who have their own inspirational recipes involving turkey may be well prepared for a challenge issued by meat product distributor Bernard Matthews.

The firm is challenging the nation's chefs to come up with unique flavour ideas involving the variety of poultry.

It is hoped the initiative will inspire the preparation of more turkey dishes throughout the year, as it is believed the dish is often associated exclusively with Christmas.

A winning seasonal recipe will be selected by the Craft Guild of Chefs every quarter, which will appear online complete with a profile of the cook.

"Previous contributors have included Marco Pierre White and Eastern Daily Press Best Pub Menu winner Nik Hare, who came up with some delicious seasonal recipes," commented general manager of Bernard Matthews Duncan Marsh.

Those who prepared adventurous recipes for Christmas could find their dishes translate to a non-festive context much better.

For instance, a barbecue chicken was recently recommended in the Guardian, which involved basting the bird with rosemary and thyme.
