Welsh food celebrated in London this week

St David's Day is fast approaching and to celebrate, London is to have an entire week of everything Welsh.

Wales Week kicks off today and will be a rare treat for foodies desperate to get a taste of some of the finest food the country has to offer.

The event will no doubt provide visitors with some inspirational recipes to try out in their own kitchens too.

Commenting on the important influence that Welsh cuisine has on the British palate, Alun Davies, deputy minister for agriculture, food and fisheries, said: "Wales Week in London affords us an excellent opportunity to spread the word about our food and drink.

"We have such a wonderful array of produce, and we want to share it with as wide an audience as we can!"

Old Welsh favourites like Welsh Rarebit, Penbryn Cheese Pudding and Barra Brith will be on offer - as well as some of the country's renowned raw ingredients like Glamorgan sausages.

Welsh rarebit recipes vary wildly and often include Paprika or Cayenne Pepper.
