Caterers could capitalise on events in 2012

The Olympics could provide chefs with food ideas

Chefs have been advised to theme their creative cuisine around the various events set to take place in 2012 by chief executive of the British Beer & Pub Association Brigid Simmonds.

She claimed the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and Paralympics, the torch relay, the Cultural Olympiad and Euro 2012 could make this summer one of the biggest summers of celebration the country has seen.

Indeed, Latin American Food is also said to be a big hit with diners at the present, as interest is rising due to the handover of the Olympics to Brazil.

Ms Simmonds pointed to the success of the catering industry while the Royal Wedding took place in 2011 as a precedent for this trend.

"Families and communities went to the pub to watch the wedding and enjoy the celebrations together. We have got to get this right, so our doors are open for this great opportunity," she remarked.
