There is always lots of comfort food available for people to enjoy in winter and many dishes rely on vegetables like potatoes.

However, celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall said in an article for the Guardian said he likes celeriac much better than all the other roots - especially when mixed with culinary herbs and other ingredients to create "a winter wonder".

He particularly recommended roasting celeriac with lots of bay leaves, thyme and garlic and then placing a whole or filleted fish on top before putting the whole thing back into the oven to cook slowly.

Celeriac with fennel or in a gratin with chili and garlic could also prove popular in the colder months.

Why not experiment with other flavour combinations to see what you can come up with? Celeriac combined with herbs and spices in a soup or salad could be perfect for starters that you could serve up equally as successfully in summer.
