Fry sprouts with caraway

Use herbs and spices to bring something new to a classic

With the Christmas season in full swing, many diners are after special festive menus full of classic dinners that are traditionally associated with this time of year.

However, this can make it difficult for professional caterers.

Not only are they faced with the relatively dull task of preparing the same meal over and over, they also have to compete in a very crowded marketplace, as many restaurants offer more or less the same dish.

One way around this is to come up with new ways to bring an exciting spin on a classic.

In an article for the Independent, celebrity chef Bill Granger suggested stir-frying sprouts with caraway seeds.

This is a great example of how the addition of culinary herbs and spices can bring an exciting twist to the most mundane of meals.

Granger argued that if sprouts were consumed in China, this is how they would be prepared.
