Anyone looking to warm their cockles throughout the festive season might want to make a chicken liver parfait in a pot.

A winning recipe for the dish has just been published by Rose Prince in the Telegraph, who believes a combination of chicken livers, brandy, garlic and butter is likely to be a winner on these cold nights.

Of course, the presentation of a meal can be just as critical as the taste, so she suggests adding pink peppercorns as a decorative feature.

Ms Prince described her chicken liver parfait in a pot as a "velvety treat" that works well both as a snack while watching Christmas TV and as a "smart pre-dinner bite".

With that in mind, it could be a good Christmas present for a friend or family member.

"A little pot of something or other will be so much more appreciated than a box of sweets," Ms Prince commented.
