Try new ingredients with strawberry desserts

Strawberries can benefit from spices

It can be easy for caterers to consign the potential uses of culinary spices to curries and other exotic main meals.

However, our resident expert Chef Steve says that one of his favourite things about the ingredients is the fact that they can bring something new and exciting to a wide range of meals - from starters to desserts.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, a macaroons and strawberries recipe was suggested.

Among the ingredients was sea salt - a pinch of which can really bring a fluffy texture to the sweet before it is put in the oven to bake.

However, more adventurous caterers could bring their own twist to the meal by adding some exciting new flavours of their own.

For instance, vanilla or cinnamon could really add a rich quality to the dish that would no doubt go really far in terms of setting your offerings apart from the crowd.
