Chef creates Scottish Mac sala curry

Tomatoes chilli and coriander are used in the Scottish curry

A Scottish chef has come up with some creative cuisine using ingredients home grown in his country.

Sanjay Majhu, who runs the Harlequin Restaurant group, has created an eco-friendly curry by sourcing the produce locally.

Green chillis, coriander and cherry tomatoes are all required for the Mac-sala, as well as Scotch beef, lamb or chicken.

Mr Majhu said: "Scotland has such an amazing natural larder that I was inspired to create a curry using only home grown herbs and spices and the results have astounded me."

He added that curries usually require exotic ingredients that have to be flown in from abroad.

It has been created for the launch of the new 5pm takeaway service and the company's chairman Charles Shaw said he thinks it will be a popular dish.

Author James Ramsden offered another idea for a spicy meal recently, telling the London Evening Standard how to create goat curry with fennel, cumin and cloves.
