Celebrity chef monitors kitchen activity

Chefs keen to share their cooking process with customers could consider installing CCTV in their kitchens.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has done just this across his restaurant kitchens throughout the country.

It is hoped the move will improve quality control management and so far 18 Jamie's Italians have received the cameras, which will also be fitted in all new openings.

Tony Bygraves, chief executive of technology provider MRFS, claimed that this development could change the approach professional kitchens take to quality control.

Footage recorded by the cameras will be relayed directly to head offices in Bath.

"I have excellent teams in all my kitchens and this use of high definition CCTV is a very efficient way of maintaining that quality," Oliver claimed, stating that this will reinforce the high standards his customers expect.

A Jamie's Italian in Nottingham was recently the subject of a hygiene complaint after diners complained of seeing a mouse run across their table.
