Rosemary and thyme make Christmas dinner with a difference

Potatoes boulangere are a legitimate festive dish

With Christmas just around the corner, professional caterers up and down the country will undoubtedly be coming up with new additions to their restaurant's special menu.

However, there is no need to fall back on all the traditional roast options - don't be afraid to offer something a little different.

Celebrity chef Angela Hartnett suggested serving up potatoes boulangere - and this could fit the bill perfectly.

Writing in an article for the Guardian, she advised using culinary herbs like garlic, rosemary and thyme in the preparation of the meal.

"Place [the potatoes] in a large oven-proof serving bowl lined with butter and add the picked thyme, chopped rosemary and sliced garlic," the expert explained.

However, there is no need to stop at this - why not go even more exotic?
