Vegetarian Society Meat free diet contains all needed nutrients

Vegetarian diets contain all the nutrients you need

Creative cuisine and variety are all you need to maintain a healthy vegetarian diet with all the nutrients you'll ever need, according to the Vegetarian Society.

The group claims that the vegetarian diet contains enough protein and Omega 3 fatty acids for every stage of life.

Liz O'Neill, head of communications, explained: "The idea of meat-free meals is much broadly understood these days and there is certainly a lot more vegetarian food on offer in restaurants and supermarkets than ten years ago.

"However, it would [be] naive to think that everyone who has grown up eating meat will find it straightforward to switch straight to a completely vegetarian diet."

The organisation hopes to smooth over the transition for as many people by providing help on its website, including recipes, such as the one for vegetarian paella.

Seasoned with paprika, saffron and parsley, the recipe is wheat free, gluten free and suitable for vegans as well as vegetarians.
