UK home to growing number of Indian restaurants

The UK is home to many Indian restaurants

It seems as though people in the UK who want to sample some traditional Indian recipes do not have to travel far to find a restaurant.

According to the Wall Street Journal, there are more eateries serving this type of Asian cuisine in Britain than any other culinary style from around the world.

Furthermore, chicken tikka masala is considered to be the nation's favourite dish.

As a result, some top-class Indian restaurants have established themselves in the country and, last year, London venues of this kind were awarded a total of five Michelin stars.

Writing for the Hindustan Times's Brunch magazine, food critic Vir Sanhvi claimed there are some quality modern Indian chefs in London, although they do reduce the spiciness of their dishes to appeal to western tastes, the news provider continued.

For those who wish to get creative with some Indian cuisine at home, the Guardian recently published a recipe for a vegetarian curry that uses ground coriander, chilli, cumin, cauliflower and chickpeas.
