Spices on the menu at new London restaurant

The new restaurant is located in central London

Renowned French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has opened a new restaurant in central London, potentially giving residents of the capital another option when it comes to trying out gastro cuisine.

According to Relax News, the Michelin-starred chef's new venture, Spice Market, has launched in the new W London-Leicester Square hotel and may be perfectly suited to those who favour creative cuisine.

The new restaurant opened on Valentine's Day and marks a return to cooking for the chef, who has been out of the industry for almost a decade following the closure of his last venture Vong.

Spices and flavours on the Spice Market restaurant menu may be familiar to foodies who dined at Thai-French fusion restaurant Vong. The south east Asian-inspired menu features oriental recipes such as those often found on the street in Thailand and Vietnam, including chicken samosas, pork vindaloo and cod with Malaysian chilli sauce.

In a statement, Mr Vongerichten noted he is "thrilled" to be back in London.

Top chef Yotam Ottolenghi recently told Big Hospitality that he is a fan of "fresh tasting" dishes containing many herbs and spices.
