Adding the right spices can make a curry a healthy treat

Newly crowned 16-times world darts champion Phil Taylor has been speaking about his love of food and his battle with his weight.

He told the Mirror that he has tried many diets over the years, but this is the first time that he has managed to sustain his weight loss.

The darts legend said: "I am a lot fitter and sharper, I can really tell the difference.

"My concentration levels are up and my alertness has increased. It really gets you raring to go."

He explained that he loves tasty dishes like curries, but has found that adding spices to his food has made it taste fantastic without adding any extra calories.

The BBC's Hairy Bikers recently came up with a unique korma recipe, which would be ideal for people looking for a tasty treat, as it swaps oil, coconuts and almonds for a wide variety of spices including chilli powder, cumin, coriander, cardamom pods and turmeric.
