Moroccan spices can blend with many dishes

Combining spices can recreate the flavours of other cultures

Researching the culinary traditions of other cultures can be a really interesting way for professional caterers to bring something new and distinctive to their restaurant's menu.

Our resident expert Chef Steve says that this is one of his key professional inspirations - and co-owner of cooking school Mannafromdevon David Jones said that Moroccan spices are one of his favourite flavour pairings.

He said they are perfectly suited to a wide range of dishes and can open up new creative possibilities for chefs.

The expert added that he uses spices for meat, fish, chicken, lamb and almost anything else, as it can bring the flavour to life.

"Get the Moroccan spices out and see what they go with," Mr Jones commented, advising people "have a play a little around".

"There's a whole world of experimentation out there and I love experimenting with things," the expert continued, suggesting that something exciting and new could present itself with this approach.
