Cinnamon can add to a great chutney

Cinnamon is a great spice to add flavour to any dish

Culinary herbs and spices can often bring something new to a wide range of traditional recipes, so they must always be to hand for any eager caterers.

One such versatile spice is ground cinnamon, which can be used in a variety of recipes to create a new taste sensation.

Indeed, in an article for the Daily Telegraph, food writer and author of the Salt Sugar Smoke cookbook Diana Henry recommended using the spice to add to a roast plum and liquorice chutney.

This helps the chutney to be "more like a sauce" and would be great to serve with roast duck legs or pork.

Here at Schwartz for Chef we encourage any cook to use spices to add life to a dish.

Our resident expert Chef Steve believes that herbs and spices offer the chance for real innovation in the kitchen and this sort of thing is sure to keep customers coming back again and again.
